The History

In 1871, H.M. Gleason and his father J.J. Gleason, started Gleason & Company, offering “everything for the farm and home.” The store was originally located at 401 East Main, but expanded in 1919 to the current location to focus primarily on general farm supplies, and then to farm machinery and equipment.

In 2005, the downtown store downsized and the original store front was converted to a multi-tenant retail building. The original 2-story building now includes over 12,000 sp. ft. of class A office space and 12,000 sq. ft. of boutique retail. The building retains most of the original features such as exposed beams, hardwood floors and brick walls, and will be incorporated into the site design of “The Gleason.”
